Adware is a type of malware that presents adverts on a user’s device, often downloaded unknowingly. Once installed it can display pop-up windows, banner ads or full-screen promotions and may track browsing habits or application use to deliver targeted marketing. While not always as harmful as other forms of malware, adware can slow down systems, consume bandwidth and compromise privacy by sharing data with advertisers.
